Maryland Expands Tax Credit for Agricultural Equipment, Introduces Stillborn Child Credit

The Maryland Governor has signed a law requiring the Secretary of Agriculture to report to the Governor and the General Assembly on additional types of equipment that the Secretary recommends should qualify for the subtraction modification under the Maryland income tax for enhanced agricultural management equipment. The law also establishes a new refundable tax credit of $1,000 for parents of stillborn children. The law takes effect July 1, with the stillborn child credit provisions applicable to all taxable years beginning after December 31. [H.B. 547, enacted 04/28/26]
