Maryland Governor Signs Law Requiring Electronic Filing of Certain Tax Returns

The Maryland Governor May 16 signed a law requiring certain tax returns to be filed electronically beginning after Dec. 31, 2026. The law prohibits tax preparers and software companies from charging a separate fee for electronic filing of authorized tax documents, with penalties for violations, effective Jan. 1, 2030.
