Maryland Increases Property Tax Exemption for Blind Individuals, Surviving Spouses

The Maryland Governor signed a law concerning property tax exemptions for blind individuals. The law includes increasing from $15,000 to $40,000 the assessed value property tax exemption from state and local property taxes for a dwelling house owned by a blind individual or a surviving spouse. The law takes effect June 1, and is applicable to taxable years beginning after June 30. [H.B. 910, enacted 05/06/25]
