Maryland Provides Certain Hagerstown Property Tax Exemption

The Maryland Governor signed a law that includes: 1) exempting real and personal property owned by the City of Hagerstown and used primarily for public social, recreational, and entertainment purposes from state, county, and municipal property taxes; 2) providing that the property tax exemption for property owned by the City of Hagerstown or the Hagerstown Multi-Use Sports and Events Facility applies retroactively, beginning after June 30, 2023; and 3) the State, Washington County, and the City of Hagerstown are to provide a refund for any excess property tax paid due to the retroactive property tax exemption.
