The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation Nov. 19 proposed to amend and adopt regulations on ground rent redemption for property tax purposes. The proposal includes measures to: 1) reduce and modify the amount of information a tenant must file with the SDAT to redeem a ground rent; 2) codify the calculation method for the redemption amount under certain circumstances; and 3) remove several requirements associated with a natural person ground rent holder appearing in person to claim ground rent in favor of filing a notarized affidavit.
