Big Tech Critics Defend Maryland’s Digital Ad Tax in Litigation

Big technology’s lawsuit against Maryland’s digital advertising tax should be thrown out because the law isn’t preempted under a federal e-commerce tax freedom law as alleged, a progressive legal advocacy group argued in federal court.

Democracy Forward filed a friend of the court brief calling on U.S. District Court Judge Deborah K. Chasanow to dismiss a lawsuit filed by tech organizations and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce contesting Maryland’s first-in-the-nation Digital Advertising Gross Revenues Tax.
