Maryland’s Online Sports Betting Delayed, Revenue Threatened

The delayed rollout of Maryland’s online sports betting offering could impact expected tax revenue this year.

Maryland forecast between $25 million and $30 million in annual sports betting revenue by end of December, but ongoing delays in launching online wagering would make it challenging to meet those estimates.

“Contributions to the state are not anticipated to reach that level until the market is fully built,” said Seth Elkin, spokesperson for the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency on Thursday.
