The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) released information providing the penalty schedule for tax year 2026 for individuals who fail to comply with the Massachusetts Health Care Reform Act’s requirement to obtain minimum creditable health insurance coverage. The penalties, based on income level and imposed through the individual’s personal income tax return, shall not exceed 50 percent of the minimum monthly insurance premium for which an individual would have qualified through the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority.
