Massachusetts DOR Releases New Personal Income Tax Filing Service, Eligibility

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) Jan. 21 released an update to its recently released guidance on electronic filing and paying personal income taxes. The DOR notes that “1040.com” is offering free federal and Massachusetts returns for taxpayers of any age with adjusted gross incomes between $17,100 and $84,000, or active military with adjusted gross incomes of $84,000 or less. The DOR also reminds taxpayers that the deadline for filing 2024 state income tax returns is April 15, with an extension until Oct. 15 for qualified taxpayers. [Mass.
