The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) Jan. 7 released revised guidance on electronic filing and paying state personal income taxes. The revised guidance includes a new section detailing the state’s “FreeTaxUSA”, “TaxSlayer”, and “1040Now” services, which offer free electronic preparation and filing services for both state and federal tax returns to eligible taxpayers. The DOR adds that, to be eligible, taxpayers must meet the requirements listed for each of the three new services.
