The Massachusetts Governor Aug. 30 signed a law providing property tax exemptions for certain nonprofit senior housing in Boxford. The law provides a property exemption for real property owned by a nonprofit corporation and operated for the purpose of providing elderly housing pursuant to a proprietary lease. The reduction in taxes realized shall be credited by the nonprofit organization against the rent or other charges due by the resident whose eligibility allowed the corporation to claim the exemption.
