Mastercard Weighs Buying Crypto Firm Zero Hash, Fortune Says (1)

Mastercard Inc. is in advanced talks to buy crypto-infrastructure startup Zero Hashfor as much as $2 billion, Fortune reported Wednesday, a deal that would mark a further bet on stablecoins for the payments network.

The parties are discussing a price tag of $1.5 billion to $2 billion, and the deal may still fall through, according to Fortune, which cited five people familiar with the matter whom it didn’t identify.

“We don’t comment on rumors or speculation about our business,” Chicago-based Zero Hash said in an emailed statement.
Seth Eisen, a Mastercard spokesman, declined to comment.
