The Michigan Department of Treasury issued a notice detailing the new 24 percent excise tax on wholesale sales of adult-use marijuana that will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2026, under the Comprehensive Road Funding Tax Act (CRFTA). The tax applies to the first sale from marijuana establishments to retail licensees, marijuana cultivated and processed for retail sale by the licensee itself, and sales from medical provisioning centers to adult-use retail licensees.
