The Michigan Department of Treasury Nov. 1, 2019 announced that it will only accept electronically filed motor fuel statutory refund claims, effective Jan. 1 for excise tax purposes. Taxpayers can file their claims online through the Michigan Motor Fuel and Tobacco System (MiMATS). Online claims are processed faster, improve the accuracy and efficiency of the claim review process, and expedite communication. MiMATS also allows taxpayers to: 1) access their secure account at any time; 3) track the status of their claims; and 4) upload copies of supporting documentation. [Mich.
