The Michigan Department of Treasury announced that a special tax relief is available upon request for individuals and businesses affected by the July 23 storms and flooding in Houghton and Ontonagon counties. Affected taxpayers in those counties can request extensions for upcoming tax filing and payment deadlines, such as the Sept. 15, estimated payment deadline for individuals, fiduciaries, and certain flow-through entities, and the Aug. 20 and Sept. 20 return filing and payment deadline for monthly or quarterly sales and use tax return.
