Michigan Treasury Encourages Taxpayers to Pay Income Taxes Directly to Treasury

The Michigan Department of Treasury (DOT) Feb. 25 issued an advisory to taxpayers, who owe state individual income taxes, to make an online payments directly to the DOT. The DOT advises that paying taxes through third-party bill-paying providers, who don’t have a contractual relationship with the DOT, may compromise personal information, payment amount, and credit card numbers. Payments made through the state’s website are Payment Card Industry and the National Automated Clearing House Association compliant to help guard taxpayer security.
