Minnesota DOR Issues Information on Applicability of New Cannabis Tax on Sale of Cannabis Products

The Minnesota Department of Revenue (DOR) June 21 issued information on the cannabis tax. In May 2023, the state legalized the sale and use of recreational cannabis in the state and the DOR required all sellers of taxable cannabis products to register with it to remit the new cannabis tax, starting July 1. The cannabis tax is 10 percent of gross receipts from retail sales of taxable cannabis products.
