Mississippi DOR Issues Sales Tax Affidavit of Commercial Farmer Purchasing Farm Tractors, Farm Implements

The Mississippi Department of Revenue (DOR) Jan. 24 issued the sales and use tax affidavit for commercial farmers purchasing farm tractors or farm implements. The DOR provides that: 1) this affidavit must be used by farmers and equipment dealers to claim the reduced 1.5 percent rate when purchasing or selling farm tractors and farm implements for use in the production of agricultural products on a commercial scale for market; 2) the original copy must be submitted to the DOR with the sales tax return; and 3) a copy should be maintained for the seller’s records.
