Mississippi Extends Jackson County Hotel Tax Sunset

The Mississippi Governor signed a law extending the sunset date of a provision authorizing the Jackson County Board of Supervisors to levy a 2 percent tax on hotel and motel room rentals. The law extends the repeal date from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2030. The law takes effect upon passage. [H.B. 4079, enacted 04/01/26]
