The Montana Department of Revenue (DOR) announced details about two property tax relief programs for homeowners. The Property Tax Assistance Program (PTAP) offers a reduced property tax rate of 30-80 percent on the first $350,000 of a home’s market value for eligible residential homeowners based on income levels, marital status, and other requirements, while the Montana Disabled Veterans (MDV) Property Tax Assistance Program provides a 50-100 percent reduction for qualified disabled veterans and unmarried surviving spouses based on disability status, income, and other criteria.
