Nationwide Insurance Units Allowed to Share Michigan Tax Credits

Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance Co. and its affiliated groups can file combined insurance tax returns to take advantage of certain tax credits, the Michigan Court of Appeals ruled Thursday.

Once a group of separate taxpayers becomes a unitary business group, the entities “cease to be separate taxpayers and we are left with a single taxpayer,” Judge Kathleen A. Feeney wrote for the unanimous court.
