The Nebraska Department of Revenue (DOR) Sept. 30 issued a directive providing guidance to county assessors on the assessment and valuation of renewable energy generation facilities. The directive clarifies that the tangible personal property used directly in generating electricity from wind, solar, biomass, or landfill gas is exempt from property tax if it meets certain criteria, while the real property associated with these facilities is subject to local assessment at 100 percent of market value, effective immediately.
