New Jersey Takes Steps to Start StayNJ Property Tax Relief Plan

New Jersey is one step closer to launching its “StayNJ” property tax relief program for seniors, after lawmakers advanced a bill Monday to help implement the plan.

The legislation, S3693, will enact several recommendations from a task force convened earlier this year to provide advice on how to implement the tax break and align its application process with the state’s other property tax benefits. The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee unanimously voted for the bill, which was approved by the Assembly in June. The new implementation policies still await a full vote in the Senate.
