New Mexico will publish guidance Aug. 9 saying its unique gross receipts tax applies to digital advertising.
The proposed regulations, which will be published on the Taxation and Revenue Department’s website and in the New Mexico Register, don’t reflect a change in policy, said department spokesman Charlie Moore. Rather, it’s a clarification of state tax policy linked to practical rules for applying the tax to online ads targeting New Mexico residents.
