New York Authorizes Certain Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption

The New York Governor signed an act amending the real property tax law that includes authorizing counties, cities, towns, villages, and school districts to adopt local laws or resolutions providing a real property tax exemption for certain veterans with a 100 percent service-connected disability. The law took effect on Dec. 19 and is applicable to assessment rolls prepared on and after Jan. 2, 2026. [S. 1183, enacted 12/19/25]
