The New York Governor July 28 signed a law extending the authority of Herkimer County to impose an additional sales and compensating use tax. The law includes measures: 1) extending the county’s authority to impose a 1 percent sales and use tax, in addition to the 3 percent rate authorized for the county, until Nov. 30, 2025, from Nov. 30, 2023; and 2) extending the county’s authority to impose, within the territorial limits of such county, additional sales taxes at the rate of one-quarter of 1 percent, until Nov. 30, 2025, from Nov. 30, 2023.
