New York Governor Signs Law Extending Westchester County’s Authority to Impose Additional Sales Tax

The New York Governor July 28 signed a law extending the authority of Westchester County to impose an additional sales and compensating use tax. The law includes measures: 1) extending the county’s authority to impose a 1 percent sales and use tax, in addition to the 3 percent rate authorized for the county, until Nov. 30, 2025, from Nov. 30, 2023; and 2) amending the method for the disposition of sales and compensating use tax revenue in the county.
