The New York Department of Taxation and Finance Feb. 25 issued guidance on electronically filing individual income tax returns and having refunds directly deposited into taxpayers’ bank accounts. The department provided guidance on: 1) the benefits of filing electronically; 2) using the direct deposit option; 3) free filing options and taxpayers eligible to avail them; 4) checking the refund status; and 5) services provided by the Office of the Taxpayer Rights Advocate.
