The New York Department of Taxation and Finance April 2 issued guidance on responding to Forms DTF-948 and DTF-948-O, Requests for Information, for individual income tax purposes. The forms are new letters the department may send taxpayers for tax year 2020 and later requesting additional information to finish processing taxpayers’ returns. Taxpayers should respond by the date noted on the letter to allow the department to continue processing their returns. The department requests information to verify wages, withholding, eligibility for tax credits and deductions, and pass-through entity income or losses.
