New York Tax and Finance Department Proposes to Adopt Emergency Regulations on Fuel Tax Rates

The New York Department of Taxation and Finance April 24 proposed adopting an emergency regulation on fuel tax rates for sales and use and excise tax purposes. The regulation includes measures: 1) setting the sales tax component and the composite rate per gallon of the fuel use tax on motor fuel and diesel motor fuel for the first quarter and second quarter of 2024; and 2) reflecting the aggregate rate per gallon for purposes of the joint administration of the fuel use and carrier tax.
