The North Carolina Department of Revenue (DOR) Jan. 29 issued a notice announcing an extension of time for corporations to file franchise and corporate income tax returns. For tax years beginning on or after Jan. 1, corporations that receive an extension will have seven months from the original due date to file their returns, an additional month compared to previous years. Corporations granted an automatic federal extension will automatically receive the seven-month state extension, while others must file Form CD-419 by the original due date to request the extension.
