North Carolina DOR Publishes 2022 IFTA Compliance Manual

The North Carolina Department of Revenue July 19 published the 2022 International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) compliance tax manual. The IFTA is a base jurisdiction fuel tax agreement. The manual includes: 1) situations when North Carolina is taxpayers’ base jurisdiction for IFTA licensing and reporting; 2) IFTA and intrastate license application and renewal procedures; 3) IFTA reporting and record keeping requirements; 4) information on the Excise Tax Division’s authority to issue a tax assessment on licensees’ failure to file returns; and 5) procedures and impacts of license cancellation, suspension, revocation, and reinstatement.
