North Carolina Lawmakers Approve $1.1 Billion More in Virus Relief

The North Carolina General Assembly has approved a $1.1 billion coronavirus relief package that includes $335 for families with children.

The one-time payment is tied to the federal child tax credit, but also may be claimed by lower-income families that don’t need to file a tax return. The package (H.B. 1105), which builds on relief funding the legislature approved earlier this year, doesn’t include the Medicaid expansion that Democratic lawmakers and Gov. Roy Cooper (D) sought.
