North Dakota Governor Signs Law Amending Purchase Price Definition for Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Purposes

The North Dakota Governor March 13 signed a law amending the definition of “purchase price” for motor vehicle excise tax purposes. The law includes measures: 1) excluding the amount of a manufacturer’s incentive or discount that reduces the amount paid by the purchaser to the seller at the time of purchase and any charges or fees for auction services from the purchase price; and 2) providing that the law is effective for taxable events occurring after June 30.
