NYC Budget Plan Boosts Auditor Pay to Compete with Private Firms

New York City Mayor Eric Adams wants to add $3.7 million to the Department of Finance’s budget next year to increase pay for auditors, who have been lured away by private sector salaries.

The move would raise salaries for all four levels of city tax auditors, Finance Commissioner Preston Niblack said Friday at a New York City Council hearing on Adams’ proposed $115.1 billion fiscal 2026 budget. Niblack didn’t specify the size of the raises.
