Ohio Marijuana Program Details, Tax Rate, Await Lawmaker Action

Ohio’s House of Representatives adjourned this week without acting on an overhaul of the state’s recreational marijuana law, leaving voter-approved legalization in place but with uncertainty about particulars, including the tax rate when retail sales begin sometime next year.

Despite a Republican-led effort to fast-track alterations to the legalization program, which voters approved on Nov. 7, any changes will have to wait until January, when the House reconvenes. Without changes, the provisions of the ballot measure that took effect on Dec. 7 remain, allowing adults to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana or 15 grams of marijuana extract. ...
