Ohio Tax Department Publishes 2023 Individual Income Tax, School District Income Tax Return Filing Instructions

The Ohio Department of Taxation Dec. 1, 2023 published the 2023 instructions for filing original and amended Form IT 1040, Individual Income Tax Return, and Form SD 100, School District Income Tax Return. The filing deadline for both state and federal returns is April 15. The publication includes: 1) there is a reduction in the tax brackets and rates for nonbusiness income; 2) new certificate-based credits are available for “beginning farmers” and housing; 3) a deduction is available for Ohio adoption grant payments; and 4) the deduction for contributions to a 529 Plan is no longer limited to Ohio plans. ...
