The Ohio Court of Claims wrongly denied class certification to disabled veterans who were improperly charged local motor vehicle taxes and fees for specialty military license plates, a state appeals court ruled Tuesday.
The proposed class definition requires the purchase of a specialty plate and status as a 100% service-connected disabled veteran, which “provides a reasonably workable means of determining whether a particular individual qualifies as a member of the class,” Judge Kristin Boggs wrote for the Ohio Court of Appeals, Tenth Appellate District.
