The Oklahoma Governor April 22 signed a law imposing an excise tax on the charging and recharging of electric vehicles. The law includes measures: 1) creating the Driving on Road Infrastructure with Vehicles of Electricity Act; 2) imposing a 3-cent per kilowatt-hour tax or its equivalent on the electric current used to charge or recharge the battery or batteries of an electric vehicle, beginning Jan. 1, 2024; 3) excluding fees or charges associated with the payment method for the charging service from the tax amount; 4) providing that the tax won’t apply to electric vehicles charged at private residences where ...
