Oregon lawmakers passed a bill Wednesday separating the state from several federal tax changes, and in the process set up a ballot fight led by Republicans who hope to overturn the Democratic-led legislation.
The bill (S.B. 1507) now heads to Gov. Tina Kotek (D), who is expected to sign it.
The bill passed 34-21 along party lines in the state House. It previously passed the state Senate by a 17-13 vote on Feb. 16, with one Democrat joining Republicans in opposing it.
