Oregon Marijuana Tax Revenue Crosses $100 Million Mark

Oregon’s annual revenue from marijuana sales crossed the $100 million mark for the first time, reaching a record $102.1 million in FY 2019.

The state taxes sales of recreational marijuana at 17%, with some municipalities opting to collect an additional 3%. State revenue in the fiscal year ending June 30 increased 24% over FY 2018 revenue, according to state Department of Revenue figures.

  • May 2019 revenue reached $10,589,110—the highest for any single month since the program began in 2016.
  • Local revenue surpassed $1 million in each month of FY 2019 in another first.
