Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Affirms Denial of Petition to Set Aside Property Tax Sale

Jan. 24, 2025, 7:26 PM UTC

The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Jan. 22 affirmed a Delaware County trial court order denying appellant’s petition to set aside the tax sale of her property in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. The Court found that although the $14,419 sale price was substantially lower than the property’s $285,000 appraised value, appellant did not show any irregularities with the sale process that contributed to the low price. The Court held that without evidence of irregularities, the sale price alone was insufficient to overturn the valid tax sale. [Gaynor v. Del. Ctny. Tax Claim Bureau, et. al., Penn. Commw.
