The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court issued an opinion affirming the April 10, 2023, decision of the Court of Common Pleas for Lycoming County regarding a property dispute arising from competing tax and sheriff’s sales. Purchaser bought the property at a tax upset sale in September 2020. In November 2020, taxpayers purchased the property at a sheriff’s sale arising from a mortgage foreclosure. The trial court dismissed the taxpayers objections to the tax sale since they were not owners at the time, but granted judgment in their favor in a quiet title action against the tax upset sale purchaser.
