Pennsylvania lawmakers grappling with budget deficits are looking to a proliferation of skill game terminals as a source of badly needed revenue.
The trick is finding a rate or fee that political parties and industries can accept.
The skill games tax is among the most significant revenue-raisers still on the table as the state Senate returns to session in Harrisburg Tuesday. It could raise at least $300 million annually, according to lawmakers, partially filling $500 million to $900 million of projected losses in the next year from corporate deductions enacted by the GOP federal tax law signed in July.
