Puerto Rico Treasury Chief Resigns to Move to Private Sector

Puerto Rico Treasury Secretary Francisco Pares Alicea will be stepping down Jan. 31 to pursue work in the private sector, Governor Pedro Pierluisi announced Friday.

  • In a statement, Pares Alicea said “new opportunities for professional growth and important changes in my personal life have put me on a different path”
  • Nelson Perez, the deputy treasury secretary, will assume the top job
