The Rhode Island state legislature passed a law to allow the town of Coventry to exempt or stabilize taxes on certain properties used for manufacturing, commercial, residential, or mixed-use purposes, for up to 20 years after public hearings and determinations by the town council. This includes properties that have undergone environmental remediation, historical preservation, or affordable housing development. The law takes effect upon passage. [S.B. 1142, enacted 07/01/25]
