The Rhode Island Governor signed a law amending the city of Pawtucket property tax classification system. The law includes: 1) amending the property tax classification for Class 1 property by increasing from five to six dwelling units in which at least one unit is owner-occupied; 2) establishing Class 5 property that includes all residential real estate of not more than five units if no units are owner-occupied; and 3) providing that Class 5 property tax rates are capped at 175 percent of Class 1 property tax rates.
