Rhode Island Passes Law on Property Tax Classifications, Rates for City of Central Falls

The Rhode Island state legislature passed a law amending the laws related to property tax classification and rates for the city of Central Falls. The law includes: 1) defining five classes of property for taxation purposes based on use; 2) setting limits on how much higher the tax rates for certain classes can be compared to the lowest residential class (Class 1); and 3) establishing a fixed tax rate of $38.33 per $1,000 for personal property (Class 3).
