The Rhode Island Division of Taxation Nov. 25 announced the annual shutdown of its Modernized e-File (MeF) system for personal income tax 1040 returns, effective Nov. 30. The advisory warns tax professionals that any returns filed during the shutdown will not be transmitted until the system reopens in early 2025, potentially resulting in interest and penalties for late filing and payment.
