The Rhode Island Division of Taxation (Tax Div.) Feb. 4 issued an advisory reminding retailers and others that the annual sales and use tax reconciliation returns were due on or before Jan. 31. The return serves as a type of annual report for retailers, can be filed electronically, or on paper, and covers the 2021 calendar year. On it, taxpayers report sales, deductions, and the amount of sales tax remitted. Taxpayers must file the return even if they don’t owe the tax.
